Our Community

Community Wellness.

Student health, safety and wellbeing come first, and social-emotional growth matters as much as academics.

Our priorities

Safe, supported, known.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our students are of utmost importance. Here’s how we support students and keep our campus safe.

Social-emotional development is as important as academics in building confidence and competence, so we focus on the whole person: balance, wellness and self-awareness.

Built into the week

Wellness, everywhere.

Wellness shows up in the curriculum, in Advisory and on the field.

Grades 9 and 10

Health

A spiral curriculum on mental health, stress, sleep, nutrition, relationships, identity and more.

All four years

Advisory

Mixed-grade groups of about ten with a faculty advisor, meeting every week.

Grades 9 and 10

PE

Required unless a student plays a sport, with options like yoga, volleyball and strength training.

Support & counseling

Someone is always looking out.

A licensed counselor and a team of directors keep an eye on every student’s academic and emotional wellbeing.

01

School counselor

On campus four days a week for individual and small-group counseling, and available to talk with parents.

02

Therapist referrals

For families seeking ongoing support, we keep a list of trusted therapists.

03

Student Success Team

Five directors meet twice a week to discuss academic and emotional concerns as they come up.

04

Student Review Meeting

All teachers and advisors meet to identify students who may need support.

Safety & preparedness

Safety is everyone’s job.

All employees complete boundary training and training on reporting suspected abuse every year, and a Board-level Safety Committee provides ongoing oversight. Student safety policies are reviewed and updated annually.

The LiveSafe app lets anyone report a concern anonymously and communicate with the school in real time.

Advisory

Four years, one group.

Advisory groups of about ten students from grades 9 to 12 stay together with their faculty advisor for all four years, meeting weekly for check-ins and activities.

Advisory focuses on four areas of life: school, friends, family and health. Freshmen settle in, sophomores branch out, juniors hone their interests, and seniors lead and mentor.

Visit

See it for yourself.

The best way to understand an SA education is to see it in person. Join us for an Open House or Visit Day.
