Tuition that fits your family
A plan built around your family.
Sonoma Academy supports each student’s path and works with every family to determine eligibility and a payment plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualified students, and many families who might not expect to be eligible still receive it.
Assistance is administered through Clarity, which creates an estimated, family-specific tuition plan. We ask families to make tuition a priority, which can mean rethinking vacations or home improvement plans.
We look at annual income, assets, family size, other tuition payments such as college, and unusual expenses like eldercare or educational loans.

How it works
Four steps to tuition assistance.
Apply alongside your admissions application. Admission and tuition assistance decisions arrive together.
01
Create a Clarity account
Tuition assistance applications are submitted online through Clarity.
02
Share complete financial information
Include all tax schedules, along with assets such as savings, investments and property.
03
Apply separately if parents live apart
When parents or guardians live in separate households, each household submits its own application.
04
Receive your tuition plan
We calculate an estimated, family-specific tuition plan and share it with your admissions decision.

2026-27 tuition
One tuition, with nearly everything included.
Comprehensive tuition for 2026-27 is $60,700: $58,500 in tuition plus $2,200 for the daily lunch program. It covers textbooks and class materials, field trips and retreats, dances, the yearbook, graduation festivities, Parents Association membership, the shuttle to the Santa Rosa SMART station, on-campus Intersession courses, and one international Passport Program Intersession.
Not included: personal school supplies, a laptop, and AP exam fees.

Merit scholarships
$1,000 to $15,000 a year.
Merit awards renew each year a student is enrolled. There’s no separate application: every applicant who meets the deadline is considered, and recipients are notified with their admissions decision.
Four to six Davis Scholarships are also awarded each year, covering four years of full tuition for incoming 9th graders of Latine heritage who will be the first in their family to attend college.

01
Do returning students need to reapply?
Yes. Families reapply every year by November 1.
02
What is expected of recipients?
The same as every student: an academic record that reflects their abilities and positive participation in the community. Families also reapply each year and show continued need.
03
Can returning families apply for the first time?
Possibly, after a student’s second year, if a family’s circumstances change unexpectedly. Funds are not guaranteed.
04
How are separated or divorced parents considered?
Both parents’ income and assets are considered, and each household submits an application. A remarried parent’s spouse may also need to provide documentation.
05
Is assistance available for transfer students?
It’s limited. Currently enrolled students are served first, so transfer applicants should apply by the posted deadlines.
