Percy joined Sonoma Academy in summer 2025. He praises the energy and commitment of the school community and says he is honored to work somewhere invested in both its history and its growth. He describes the community as "peerless."
Percy earned a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Education at UCLA. He then earned a second master's degree and a Ph.D. in Sociology at Stanford. His dissertation title is "Does language matter? The impact of Spanish use on academic achievement for second-generation Latinos."
Before Sonoma Academy, Percy was Head of School at The Bush School (K-12) in Seattle, WA. Highlights include developing a long-range strategic plan, managing a $28 million operating budget, overseeing 20% enrollment growth, a 132% increase in annual fund dollars, and a 60% increase in BIPOC enrollment. He also completed a $17M capital campaign for a new Upper School building and facilitated the purchase of a satellite campus.
Percy was previously Head of School at Gateway School (K-8) in Santa Cruz, CA, where he managed operations, developed a long-range strategic plan with the Board of Trustees, supervised 40 faculty and staff, and chaired the Board's Program Committee. Before that, he was Upper Division Director at Brentwood School (K-12) in Los Angeles, where he oversaw about 500 students in grades 9-12, supervised 65 faculty, led curriculum and scheduling work, and chaired the Curriculum Committee and Honor Board. He also served as Middle Division Dean of Students for two years, ran a summer enrichment program, and taught Spanish in the Middle and Upper Divisions.
Early in his career, Percy was Director of Multicultural Services at Menlo School (6-12) in Atherton, CA, and taught Spanish at Brewster Academy (9-12) in Wolfeboro, NH.
