Oona manages the school's academic logistics, including class placement, scheduling, room assignments, and grade administration. She earned her BS and MS in Civil Engineering, which suits the balancing work of her role. A 2019 Yearbook dedication describes her as keeping the school running smoothly behind the scenes.

A Sonoma County native, Oona attended Justin Siena High School and then UC Berkeley. After finding engineering less exciting than she'd hoped, she worked at the Sonoma Ecology Center studying steelhead salmon habitats. A former Head of School there noticed her gift for teaching and encouraged her to teach overseas.

Oona taught for six years at an international school in Singapore. After returning to the U.S. in 2007, she learned of Sonoma Academy through a parent, Mary Dale, who was then Head of Admissions. The STEM department needed an emergency long-term substitute, and Oona took the role. She also met her future husband, Eric Moes, at that same party.

Over the next few years, Oona taught a wide range of math, science, and engineering courses, filled in during maternity leaves, and tutored. When the Registrar retired in 2011, she took on the role. She says she still gets to teach in a more one-on-one way by helping students plan their schedules.

Outside of work, Oona enjoys mysteries, gardening, hiking, biking, and picking berries. She has played piano since age seven and loves singing. The Community Choir Exploratory, which meets twice a week, is a highlight of her workday: "Singing in the Community Choir is the highlight of my day. It fills me with joy."
