Kevin grew up in Sacramento and was always playing basketball. He played for his large public high school and for Sonoma State University. He later worked as an assistant coach for the SSU basketball team for a couple of seasons and played one professional season in Vienna, Austria.

After sixteen years of year-round play and two years of coaching, he was ready for a change. An old friend who had coached the Sonoma Academy girls basketball team then asked him to be the assistant coach. "I was a little hesitant to accept the offer."

A 2008 visit to the new campus and a meeting with Chris Ziemer changed his mind. "I loved the campus and the atmosphere." He has grown fonder of the school each year.

He manages all sports and transportation for student athletes as Associate Director of Athletics and Physical Education, and still coaches the girls basketball team. He enjoys eating lunch in the Commons with coworkers and recalls how students once relied on vending machines and food trucks before the G&C opened.

What sets the school apart is its people, including the staff, faculty, and students. He calls the students "absolutely fantastic." "It's the people."

For many student athletes, he is the go-to person with answers, and he is always willing to help.
